Rev. Dr. James J. Bolyard III
Serving as the pastor of Bunn United Methodist Church since the summer of 2023, Pastor Jim continues to enjoy the small-town energy of Bunn. He describes himself simply as a “Husband, Father, Pastor, Humble Theologian, and Good Dude.” Guided by a personal rule of life, “When in doubt, err on the side of love,” Jim brings this principle into every aspect of his ministry. He has served the church community in various roles, including Sunday School teacher, Youth leader, Lay leader, and certified lay speaker. For the past eleven years, he has served in pastoral ministry to rural and small-town congregations as a Rural Ministry Fellow of the Duke Endowment. Jim holds both an M.Div. and a D.Min. from Duke University and is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference.
Envisions, plans, implements, evaluates the mission and ministry of the church. Plans and implements programs for nurture, outreach, and witness ministries.
Engage in biblical and theological reflections on the mission of the church and the role and work of the pastor, staff, and laity.
Carries out oversight of all church property and church equipment. Serves as the legal entity of the church.
Responsible for developing and implementing plans to meet the budget and administers funds received as instructed by the Church Council.
